The Montserrat caves
Montserrat has an impressive underground world full of history. Within the conglomeratic massif the action of rainwater, infiltrated through cracks, has been dissolving the rock for millions of years and has left as a legacy of a varied range of chasms and caves. A whole karstic landscape decorated with spectacular speleothems (stalactites, stalagmites, etc.) that give it a special relevance.
Among them are the Montserrat caves, known far and wide for their spectacular nature that fascinated and inspired artists such as Rusiñol and Disfrutó over the years, as if they were the best summary of the history of Catalan speleology.
The caves can be visited without prior reservation on weekends. During the week, group visits are organised.
