Manresa will be his, on the Olympics of Geology Catalonia

Manresa will be the venue this Friday the 3rd of February, a new edition of the Olympics of Geology Catalonia, a test aimed at high school students that aims to promote knowledge and interest in geology. The tests are carried out in the hotel • Facilities EPSEM from 10 am and will feature 77 students from six schools in the Central Catalonia. Manresa is one of three venues for the Olympics in the province of Barcelona, ??with Barcelona and Bellaterra.
Geoparks involvement in this event, and previous work dissemination among schools in the region, makes every year to increase the participation of schools in the Central Catalonia in these tests. Since Geoparks working jointly with the Learning Camp Bages geology to highlight the advantage that the territory has a Geopark recognized by UNESCO.
Participation in the Olympics is done in groups of four students, who must first pass a test individual theoretical and after a test group of a more practical which may include recognition of minerals, rocks and fossils, analysis of geological maps and cuts, or solving simple problems arising from the interpretation of geological maps.
The best classified in this phase of the Geology Olympics will participate in the national phase, to be held in Salamanca from 31 March to 2 April. It also can enjoy a guided Geoparks by the Central Catalonia.
